Bob Singley completed his undergraduate
and graduate studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Immediately
after receiving his MBA in finance, he started working for Becton
Dickinson as a sales representative covering retail pharmacies
throughout New Jersey. As a Sales Representative in the Consumer
Products group, one of the first physicians he called on was
Dr. Martin Blechman who is also being honored tonight.
He rose quickly through the ranks and was named Director of Marketing
for diabetes health care business in the USA and eventually for
all of North America. His responsibilities were expanded to include
the Asia Pacific and the Latin and South American regions. He
now heads the marketing activities of Insulin Delivery Team for
BD's Worldwide Diabetes Care business and is a Member of the
Worldwide Diabetes Care Leadership Team and the Worldwide Consumer
Healthcare Leadership Team.
Mr. Singley created and directed the BD Diabetes Education Consultant
field organization whose role was to source health professionals
and care for patients with diabetes. Under his guidance, the
Diabetes Foundation will be offering a physicians' seminar at
BD this coming November.
In conjunction with Waste Management, Inc. Mr. Singley played
an important role in launching the National Safe Needle Disposal
Program, one of the solutions to the problem of improperly disposed
needles in the community while making sharps disposal readily
available to those who need it.
Mr. Singley is currently on the Board of Directors of the American
Diabetes Association, Eastern Region, is past Chairman of the
Board, ADA NJ Affiliate and has chaired many fund raising activities
on their behalf. Last year the ADA honored Mr. Singley with its
top award for volunteer service. The Diabetes Foundation has
also benefited from Mr. Singley's generosity as he has been a
faithful supporter of our annual golf outing, which is sponsored
by BD, as well as through his collaboration with DFI in public
education.
